Apple has once again increased the subscription cost of its Apple TV+ streaming service, marking the second price hike within a year.
The revised pricing, along with Apple Arcade and Apple News+ subscriptions and Apple One bundles, was unveiled on the company’s website. In the United States, the new monthly rate for Apple TV+ is $9.99, up from the previous $6.99. The annual subscription cost is also rising, jumping from $69 to $99 per year. Existing subscribers will experience these price adjustments on their next billing renewal date, with a 30-day grace period.
According to Variety, the initial price adjustment for Apple TV+ occurred in October 2022, moving the monthly fee from the original $4.99 (its launch price in November 2019) to $6.99 per month. “Since launching four years ago has made history for streaming services by crossing major milestones in a short span of time, thanks to its extensive selection of award-winning and broadly acclaimed series, feature films, documentaries, and kids and family entertainment,” a company spokesperson said in a statement.
Apple, which keeps its exact subscriber numbers confidential, is committed to increasing its recurring revenue through subscription services. Apple TV+ boasts a diverse library of original content, including acclaimed series such as Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, Invasion, and Oscar-winning film CODA.
