Angle Pictures launches sales on crime thriller ‘Double Down South’

The crime drama Double Down South, starring Sons of Anarchy actor Kim Coates, is going on sale through Other Angle Pictures. Next month at AFM, Other Angle will screen the finished movie for potential customers.

Double Down South which was written and directed by Tom Schulman, is set in the high-stakes keno gambling industry, where Nick (Coates), a keno veteran, operates an illicit keno parlour out of a dilapidated plantation home. Diana, a brilliant, independent newbie, eventually convinces Nick to take her under his wing. They get ready to take a huge risk in order to overcome the world champion, but they soon realise that the danger is far greater than they had anticipated.

The film Double Down South debuted at the Newport Beach International Film Festival earlier this month.

Alongside Coates, the film also stars Lili Simmons (Banshee) and Justin Marcel McManus (Power Book II: Ghost). Rick Wallace, Sara Sometti Michaels, and Seth Michaels are among the producers. Alan Caudillo handled the film’s photography, Yang Hua Hu handled the editing, and Adam Berry wrote the score.

Schulman is best known for his work on the Dead Poets Society script, for which he picked up the best screenplay Oscar. Schulman also wrote and co-wrote Honey, I Shrunk the KidsSecond SightWhat About Bob?, and the Sean Connery drama Medicine Man
