Ad-Free HBO Max Prices Raised by Warner Bros. Discovery

Warner Bros. Discovery has just announced a price hike for its ad-free Max streaming plans, effective immediately.

As per Variety, starting this Tuesday, the ad-free Max subscription will increase from $15.99 to $16.99 per month, with the annual plan jumping from $149.99 to $169.99. The “ultimate” ad-free tier will also see a $1 per month increase, bringing it to $20.99 monthly, and a $10 per year rise, making the annual subscription $209.99.

These adjustments apply to new subscriptions right away.

According to Warner Bros. Discovery, existing subscribers will receive a 30-day notice before their plan renews, with the price changes taking effect from their next billing cycle on or after Thursday, July 4, 2024. However, current yearly subscribers will not face an increase until their renewal.

Meanwhile, the price of the ad-supported version of Max remains unchanged at $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year.

This move reflects the ongoing trend in the streaming industry, with platforms periodically adjusting their subscription rates. While subscribers might feel the pinch, it’s a strategic decision for Warner Bros. Discovery as they continue to invest in content and expand their streaming offerings.
