In a significant move for the hit series Special Ops: Lioness, Thad Luckinbill has been elevated to a series regular for its highly anticipated second season. This promotion sees Luckinbill continuing his role as Kyle, a dedicated CIA officer, in the Taylor Sheridan-created drama.
The show, starring Zoe Saldaña and Laysla De Oliveira, was renewed by Paramount+ earlier this month. Fans of the espionage thriller can stream the entire first season on the platform. Special Ops: Lioness is inspired by a real-life CIA program and centers around Cruz Manuelos, a determined young Marine played by De Oliveira, who joins the CIA’s Lioness Engagement Team to infiltrate and dismantle terrorist organizations. Saldaña portrays Joe, the tough station chief responsible for training and leading her female operatives.
Season 2 promises to dive deeper into the intense and high-stakes missions that defined the first season, with potential new story arcs and character developments. Alongside Saldaña and De Oliveira, the show features a star-studded cast including Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, and LaMonica Garrett.
Luckinbill, who recently starred in and produced Netflix’s Reptile, continues to build his impressive resume with this latest role. His other notable credits include roles in Granite Mountain, Horse Soldiers, and the HBO series Ballers. As a producer, he is known for Demolition and Sicario.
With filming set to commence in Mexico, fans eagerly await more espionage action and character-driven drama in the upcoming season of Special Ops: Lioness.
