Toya Johnson-Rushing and Reginae Carter are ready to set the record straight and give fans an authentic glimpse into their lives with their upcoming reality TV series, Toya & Reginae, premiering on August 24th on WE TV.
Amidst rampant speculation in the blogosphere and on social media, the mother-daughter duo is determined to provide a deeper insight into their world.
Describing the show to Popsugar, Johnson-Rushing emphasized its authenticity. “This is a family show based on family drama, business ventures, relationships, love, friends, and all of that good stuff.”
The series promises to unveil the real, unfiltered lives of the pair as they manage their relationships and bustling careers. “I’m sure there’s lots of people that can relate to it, and my family didn’t mind opening up about it, because we’re actually going through it and it’s therapy for us as well,” Johnson-Rushing added.
As the mother of Carter, Johnson-Rushing is proud of her daughter’s growth throughout the filming process. “I honestly love seeing Reginae show her growth this season,” she says. “Reginae is always going to keep it real and she’s going to let you know what’s up. I love that about her.”
Having previous experience in the reality TV realm, both individually and as a duo, Johnson-Rushing and Carter find comfort in sharing the screen. “I feel like we can talk to each other and motivate each other. She’s the perfect partner, always has my back,” Carter affirms.
For 24-year-old Carter, the show also provides a platform to demonstrate her accomplishments independently from her famous parents. “People are going to see me go for what I want,” she states. Expressing her determination to establish her career based on her own merit, Carter intends to showcase the hard work she puts into her acting endeavors.
