The cast of CBS’s Survivor 45 has been caught in a web of lies. Just days before the game starts, the contestants reveal that they are not planning on sharing their true secrets with each other. It seems they want to keep their cards close to their chests.
One area where deception will be rampant is in the contestants’ professions. Not only are two lawyers planning to conceal their true occupations, but one of them will even pretend to be five years younger than she actually is.
It’s not uncommon for lawyers on Survivor to lie about their jobs, but this season, thanks to Cody Assenmacher, salespeople are also feeling the pressure to keep their true roles under wraps. “This is all Cody’s fault, but I’m not telling anybody that I’m in sales,” remarks Kaleb Gebrewold.
“I mean, after Brian Heidik in season 5 as a used car salesman, I thought we were going to be fine. I didn’t know if I’d have to lie about it. But him throwing Justine as hard as he did under the bus, the submarine, the plane, whatever you want to call it, I knew that I had to come up with something else.”
Dee Valladares is also anxious about her sales background being seen as a negative. “I don’t want them to know that I’ve been in sales for my entire life because every time someone hears the word sales, they just obviously close up and they’ll think that you’re multiple people in one. That’s definitely something I don’t want them to know.”
On the other hand, Brandon Donlon has no concerns about his job. Instead, he wants to hide his intense love for Survivor. “I don’t want the other players to know that I am very serious Survivor super fan,” Brandon admits. “I’m trying to downplay it as much as possible. I have a lot of fun in these interviews because I can spit facts and do this whole thing, but once I’m on the island, I just need to dumb it down. I need to play it cool. I’m not going to be rattling boot lists off like I do when I can’t sleep at night to put me to sleep. I’m going to just be mellow, cool Brandon, and hopefully that works out for me.”
Survivor 45 premieres on September 27th.
