Rick and Morty Season 7 Release Date Finally Announced

Rick and Morty Season 7 is set to return on Adult Swim, scheduled for October 15th. However, after Justin Roiland was removed from the network in January, the show has not yet revealed who will replace him.

Roiland, who voiced the titular characters and co-created the show with Dan Harmon in 2012, was let go by Adult Swim following domestic violence charges.

The decision to part ways with Roiland left the characters of the eccentric scientist and his grandson without voices. Steven Levy, an executive producer of the show, informed fans during the 2023 San Diego Comic-Con: “We are closing in on the end of our process of the recast, but I do want to say it’s gonna be great.”

In a question regarding the new voices, he replied, “It’s sound-alikes. The characters are the same characters. No change.”

Hulu also dropped Roiland from his other series, Solar Opposites and Koala Man, due to the same domestic violence charges. However, the charges were later dismissed in March before Roiland’s second pre-trial, as there was insufficient evidence to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt, according to a statement from the Orange County District Attorney’s office.

Despite the challenges, Rick and Morty Season 7 is pushing forward, offering ten new episodes. Michael Ouweleen, the president of Adult Swim, expressed excitement for the upcoming season and praised the show’s creative team, saying, “Thanks to the talent of the entire show team, we can all enjoy 10 new episodes that yet again raise the bar for comedy and animation. This season proves that the geniuses at work on ‘Rick and Morty’ are just getting started.”
