Netflix has officially renewed its popular rom-com series Nobody Wants This for a second season, set to premiere in 2025. The news came shortly after the show’s impressive debut, which quickly garnered significant viewership. In just 11 days after its release, the series, starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, amassed nearly 90 million viewing hours globally, equivalent to 26.2 million complete views of the season.
Season two of Nobody Wants This will feature a change in leadership, with Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan—both known for their work on the HBO series Girls taking over as showrunners from Jack Burditt. The show’s creator, Erin Foster, will continue to serve as an executive producer and writer for the series, ensuring continuity in its creative direction.
Netflix’s chief content officer, Bela Bajaria, announced the renewal at the Bloomberg Screentime conference, noting that the show’s massive viewership disproved its ironic title. The series premiered in September 2024 and quickly climbed to the top of Netflix’s English-language series rankings for the week of September 30 to October 6.
The rom-com follows Bell’s character, a podcaster, as she navigates a budding romance with an unconventional rabbi played by Brody. The show explores their undeniable connection while also highlighting the challenges that arise due to their differing beliefs—his religious faith and her agnosticism.
