Toheeb Jimoh and Kola Bokkini, stars of Ted Lasso, confess to a cunning scheme to pilfer show props and merchandise during the series finale, employing a clever ruse involving a “strong breeze” to cover their tracks.
During the Ted Lasso panel at MCM London in May 2024, Toheeb Jimoh, who portrayed Sam Obisanya, unveiled their audacious plan. He disclosed, “To be honest, me and Kola had a plan.
We told our head of costuming, we said, ‘Listen, on the final day, a big breeze is coming and it’s gonna steal all of our kits. It’s just gonna wash all our costumes away somewhere.’” Jimoh succeeded in liberating numerous kits, with his Nigeria kit being a prized addition to his collection.
However, it was Kola Bokkini who took the art of prop acquisition to the next level. Toheeb revealed, “Kola stole so many of our kits that on the final day, he didn’t have a kit to wear. So he had to bring his own costume back.” Despite the potential awkwardness of the situation, the duo seemed to agree that the risk was worth the reward.

While the conversation may have been casual, the outcome saw Bokkini turning up with an impressive haul of show memorabilia. Jimoh and Bokkini’s antics shed light on the clandestine world of prop heists that often unfold behind the scenes of beloved TV shows.
It’s a tale that highlights the allure of show memorabilia and the lengths to which cast members might go to secure a piece of the production’s legacy. For fans, while the dream of walking away with an authentic AFC Richmond jersey remains elusive, officially licensed merchandise offers a tangible connection to the beloved series.
As Ted Lasso continues to capture hearts worldwide, Jimoh and Bokkini’s escapade adds a touch of behind-the-scenes intrigue to the show’s legacy, demonstrating the camaraderie and mischief that define life on set.
