Mean Girls Writer Considers Legal Action Over Unpaid Franchise Success

The creator of the original material for Mean Girls is contemplating legal action against Tina Fey and Paramount due to what she considers unpaid compensation for the franchise’s ongoing success.

Rosalind Wiseman, writer of Mean girls sold the film rights to her book, Queen Bees and Wannabes, for $400,000 in 2002. Although she gave up rights to the original film and its adaptations, her contract included a percentage of net profits depending on the movie’s box office success.

However, the studio has claimed that they haven’t made any net profits, despite the film’s continued popularity. Wiseman is demanding additional payment since her work has had a significant impact on our culture, and she finds it unfair to be left out. Despite Tina Fey‘s past support for women, Wiseman believes that her experience suggests otherwise.
